We may be known as the home of the reality family, The Kardashians, but we are also a vibrant film community full of industry professionals that make their living in the film business.

The Calabasas Film Festival, a non-profit headquartered in the heart of where film lives, welcomes avid film goers, studio executives, Academy Members and key players in the entertainment industry to the ultimate festival experience.

CFF showcases major film premieres, student films, documentaries and top quality film selections from all genres that are guaranteed to entertain. CFF provides the community an opportunity to connect over mutual passions for film and television while enjoying local culinary arts and entertainment.

Terms and rules

Completion Date:
Films must have been completed no earlier than July 2019.

Exhibition Formats:
Acceptable formats vary by venue and may include (but are not necessarily limited to) DCP, and Blu Ray disc. The festival requests DVD and/or Blu Ray disc back up copies to accompany all exhibition formats.

Prior Screenings:
CFF does not require premiere status. Entries may not be televised or widely available online before September 22nd, 2020.

Distribution Status:
CFF does not pay screening fees for films.

Support Materials:
Accepted films are requested to provide an electronic press kit including:
- Production still photos
- Director biography
- Credits list
- All photos should be print-quality

Shipping Costs:
Submitters of accepted films agree to pay for shipping the exhibition copy of their film to CFF to arrive to the festival office at least two weeks prior to the start of the festival, or by the date requested by the CFF technical team (whichever is earlier). CFF covers return shipping of accepted films’ exhibition copies and back up materials only.

Language:
Foreign language films must be made available with English subtitles.

*CFF does not provide feedback for films that are not selected for the 2020 program.

By submitting your film for consideration to the 2020 Calabasas Film Festival, you are telling us that you have full authority to do so, that the film is cleared for potential festival exhibition, and that you accept full legal responsibility for the intellectual property therein. Submitting your film to us constitutes permission to exhibit your work at the 2020 Calabasas Film Festival. The Calabasas Film Festival is also hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. You shall also indemnify and hold harmless the Calabasas Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.

Run time 40+ minutes. This program selection features a wide variety of niche interest film pairings that revolve around topics such as art, music, culture, sports or food.

Short Films are made up of a selection of narrative, animation or documentary. Films submitted must be under 20 minutes in length.

CFF is dedicated to honoring the future of the industry by empowering young filmmakers with a platform for outreach through student screenings and events! Acceptable Student Films from: Calabasas High, Viewpoint, Agoura High, Oaks Christian, El Camino Real Charter High School, Chaminade and Louisville.
