About the festival

*** We are currently accepting submissions for our 2021 event! ***

Welcome to Budapest Independent Film Festival, a 2-day annual event dedicated to independent filmmakers from all over the world.

Every year, we celebrate independent cinema in the heart of lively Budapest. Our event is created for the culture-loving, cinephile, international crowd.

The festival’s aim is to provide a platform for filmmakers who don’t necessarily have a large budget, but a vision and an important story to tell. Through our careful selection process, our goal is to showcase a wide variety of genres and styles to cinema fans and fellow international filmmakers.

We will be handing out a number of awards at the event in a number of categories, selected and evaluated by our Jury.

We look forward to putting on a spectacular event in the beautiful city of Budapest and showcasing your film.

Winners will be awarded with Award Certificates, and online VOD distribution deals with our partnering streaming platform.

Press and photographers will be invited to the festival.

Our Jury Panel includes:
