Get ready for Brooklyn Music Week 3rd Annual, 5 days of amazing music experiences from August 30 – September 3, all going down in the best city in the World! Spread love it’s the Brooklyn way!
BKMW takes place nestled between two of the biggest summer music events in Brooklyn; the Afropunk Music Festival and the Caribbean Labor Day Parade, together these two events bring in over 1.2 million revelers each year.
The last week of August in New York City is essentially a ‘Brooklyn Music Week.' With Afropunk Fest bands, most Caribbean artists, along with Video Music Awards artists in town, it’s a time where the top bands and artists in the music industry are more accessible than usual.
Events will be held at various venues throughout Brooklyn, with most events held in and around Brooklyn’s Cultural District, where venues such as the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Barclay’s Center, BRIC, Brooklyn Tech, and Long Island University are located.
Each day of BKMW will have programming geared towards that day’s theme. The 2019 themes are Music & Multimedia, Music & Fashion, Music & Social Justice, Music & Dance, and Creating The Music.
On day 1 we will screen a diverse selection of creative music videos from around the globe of all genres. All selected producers, directors, and artists will be able to screen 2-3 minutes of their music video discussing the inspiration for the video. Giving the audience a behind the scene scope of what it takes to pull it off, how many people are involved and how to work with challenges, as well as Budgeting - Casting - Location Scouting - Art Direction / Styling Storytelling - Production - Post Production- Distribution & Social Media. During out intermission we will have live performance
The goal is to have the selected directors or artist showcase their music video and then participate in a Q&A with the audience and host.
Awards: Best Director, Best Editor, Best Cinematography and BKMW Best Music Video.
