About the festival

WE LIKE TO SEE AND SHARE YOUR STORIES

BYFF is a Community Interested Company.

It was founded in 2012 by Clare Black and Elke Sigg

From the beginning we’ve wanted young people to be able to discover what goes on behind the scenes in filmmaking. Firstly, we forged links with the industry so we could award work-experience to inspired young filmmakers. In 2013 we ran the first BYFF Film Competition with an Awards Ceremony alongside a weekend of workshops, screenings and interviews held at the Brighton Museum. Out of our collaboration with the Brighton Museum we developed ‘Remix The Museum’, an ongoing project in which a team of young creators mix and mash up the artefacts into a digital display with a difference.

OUR MISSION

- to animate young people to tell and share a story.

- to encourage youth creativity

- to showcase the incredible work done by the next generation of media-makers

- to help the younger generation discover the variety of skills they can use in the professional world.

- to learn from young people as well as teach.

This year the Award Ceremony will take place on the 19th September 2015 in Brighton.
Three Finalists of each category will be showcased and the Winners awarded the BYFF Award.
Winners of the 16-19 old Categories will be awarded a one week work experience with either
- Channel 4 in London
- LatestTV in Brighton
- Seventh Art Productions in Brighton

In addition LatestTV will be broadcasting the winning Films plus a big selection of outstanding entries
