About the festival

We tell strong stories from filmmakers all over the world. With a focus on screening international and national films right along side Bloomington and Indiana filmmakers. Bloomington Indiana has a rich film industry.

The Academy Award winning film Breaking Away was released in 1979. Since then Bloomington has been the leading movie making city in the state and region. While Bloomington is a small town the optimistic and communal values of the residents carries into films. Indiana University has educated some extremely influential Hollywood Hoosiers.

BIFF revenue goes directly into the BIFF Film Gund that supplies grants to Bloomington and Hoosier filmmakers.

The Grand Biff's will be awarded to the Best Short Film and the Best Music Video.

A Grand BIFF awards will also be awarded for the following categories.

Best Gaffer
Best Writer
Best Music Video
Best Music Video Director

2020 BIFF Bloomington Indiana Film Festival Rule and Regulations.
The following rules govern all film submissions to the Bloomington Film Festival (“BIFF” or the “Festival”)

Please Note: BIFF Bloomington Indiana Film Festival does not waive entry fees. BIFF believes waiving entry fees hurts the integrity of the competition. The same rules and entry fees should apply to all applicants so no one film is favored over another. In a similar respect, BIFF Bloomington Indiana Film Festival does not invite films to be in competition. Only films that are submitted will be considered for competition.

BY SUBMITTING THE MATERIAL, I/WE HEREBY AGREES TO INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND DEFEND THE FESTIVAL, ITS EMPLOYEES, DIRECTORS, REPRESENTATIVES, AND BIFFILIATES FROM ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS, AND DAMAGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE SUBMISSION AND FROM ANY FEES AND EXPENSES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO REASONABLE ATTORNEYS’ FEES, THAT ANY OF THEM MAY INCUR IN CONNECTION THEREWITH.

Any submission can be used to promote the festival and bring an audience to Bloomington. All filmmakers attending will receive a pass.
