About the festival

The 2020 festival has been postponed until 2021.

The Washington DC High School Film Festival is open only to DC Public and Charter school students in grades 9 through 12.

**YOU MUST CURRENTLY BE ENROLLED IN A DC PUBLIC OR CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL TO QUALIFY**

The films will be 1 to 5 minutes in length. The categories for the festival are:

Short Documentary
Short Scripted Film
Environmental Short
Animated Short

Film submissions will begin on March 1st through September 10th.

The festival premiere will be October 14th, 2021 at 7 p.m. at the Avalon Theatre. The top 5 films in each category will be shown and awards will be given to the top films in each category. Other awards will be given throughout the evening, and may include films not listed in the top categories.

There will be prizes alongside awards and the top overall film will get a grand prize. All student filmmakers in attendance will be entered into an a prize drawing on the day of the festival.
