About the festival

Welcome to the Austin Action Fest, a film festival, cosplay competition, live action demonstration and video game tournament all jammed into one. General Action, Kung Fu Flicks, Shooters, Thrillers and Horror Films are all welcome. As long as there is either kickin, stabbin, chasin, shootin, or jabbin, we don't discriminate! Submit! We are one of the few international festivals dedicated to video projects that either include and or are strongly driven by the action. If you are purchasing tickets, BEWARE that these films are unrated and some of the titles may be rated R.

The festival will be physical and digital this year. Let's all get through this tough time together! Unlike many other festivals we are actively inviting producers and distributors to the event and will continue to find ways to put your project in front of financing opportunities throughout the year!

This project is sponsored by FinalDraft, Shotlister and Seed & Spark!

"This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department."

Over $1,000.00 in gifts given away!
2 optional film reviews for select projects, runners up and winners.
Potential screenings with financiers, producers and or distributors during or after the winners are selected.
Basic script coverage for winning screenplay.
Equipment rental vouchers.
Various filmmaking productivity software.
Seed & Spark crowd funding consultation.
Action choreography consultation with Ballistic Blade.

Accepting submissions for Feature Narrative, Short Film narrative, and Standalone action sequences. All genres welcome.

Due to the number of submissions and limits on screening times, being accepted does not necessarily mean your project will have a live screening. Even if it is not screened theatrically, we may still include it in our online screenings for producers/distributors. If this is an issue, please send us a message directly in order to opt out.

Due to the fact that this is an artist funded project, we CANNOT OFFER WAIVER CODES, so please do not request a waiver. Part of filmmaking is fundraising, and that is also possible to do Internationally...

We require a file to exhibit. No DVDs, no links, ONLY FilmFreeway download or some other mov or mp4 file.

Student films will require verification for the discount if selected.

Projects produced from 1/1/2018 and later may be submitted.

No batch entries. Send in separate registration for each submission.

Austin Action Fest has no obligation (other than as stated in these rules or on our website) to disclose any of the following information: i) identities of screeners or judges; ii) notes, feedback, or information relating to the submitted project; and/or iii) details regarding the submission review or selection process.
