Arquitectura Film Festival Santiago "ARQFILMFEST", the Film and Architecture Festival that will take place on October 2018, at Santiago de Chile, invites you to its Competition “The City is...”, by sending your Feature & Short Films focused in the architecture of the cities and the urban environment, the city landscape or important pieces of architecture.

About The Festival
ARQFILMFEST │ Architecture Film Festival Santiago – Chile
Ever since it’s invention, the cinema has had an close relationship with architecture, with cities as the inspiration and subject of the early images to reach the big screen. Later, the cinema broadened it’s scope to become a form of architectural representation which, through fiction, brought us impressive images of cities of the future and cities from times unknown, images of inconceivable architecture, of houses and buildings that live only on the big screen, thus establishing their undeniable contribution to the cinematic argument. The cinema is also a medium for documentation, allowing the study and analysis of cities and urban life via the moving image.
At ArqFilmFest, Festival de Cine y Arquitectura de Santiago, we believe that for architecture, our discipline, the cinema has become a great ally in the creation and in the visualisation of new architectures and cities. The cinema offers endless possibilities and a fertile ground for the development of our profession. ArqFilmFest, and the collective that organise and produce the event, aim to highlight the value of architecture and encourage the debate regarding the city, with special emphasis given to the Latin American city. With this in mind, we invite the audience to be more that passive spectator and become participant in the round tables, seminars, talks, production workshops, and more. In past editions of the Festival, these events have taken place and have been shown in both Chilean and foreign cities, such as Lisbon (Portugal), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Puebla (México), Venice and Milan (Italy) between 2012 and 2017.
ArqFilmFest is a bianual event which has gathered, since it’s first edition in 2012, all those who are interested in exploring, through the cinema, the city and urban life. With three editions to date, (2012, 2013 and 2015) the Festival has become a place for convergence, diffusion and research of all aspects that come from the crossing of the disciplines of architecture and cinema, taking the city as an object of study, urban stage and architectural space.
In Santiago, Chile’s capital city, ArqFilmFest has been hosted in cultural centres, museums, universities, auditoriums and in the open air. Thereby understanding the city as subject matter as well as stage. To date, the Festival has welcomed over 5000 spectators and has exhibited around 200 films from 40 different countries, never loosing sight of it’s main objective which is the diffusion of contemporary chilean creations, architectural as well as cinematographic.
