AFFNZ is dedicated to advancing an enhanced understanding of African cultures through film and increasing visibility and recognition for African film makers in New Zealand. At the same time, AFFNZ provides New Zealand audiences a context for understanding the complex stories and everyday realities that reach us from the Continent via mainstream news media.
We are a multi-ethnic group of film-makers, academics and business-people volunteering our time and expertise to bring this unique event to New Zealand. Our mission is to create a diverse programme of African cinema that empowers audiences and film makers alike.
AFFNZ is an engaging mixture of contemporary and classic films; from comedy to documentary, drama to music and children’s films, all richly supplemented by talks and discussions with industry professionals.
