UPDATE: Submissions for AFF Youth have now closed!
Currently, the Adelaide Film Festival is continuing to assess the impact of Covid-19 on AFF Youth. While South Australia is currently in a positive situation, children’s activities are less certain as schools rightly take a cautious approach.
We will announce our plans for AFF Youth before the end of July 2020.

The Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) is a celebration of Australian and international screen culture with a distinctive curated program that includes premiere screenings, special events, awards and forums that attract industry and general public.
AFF Youth is the newest arm of the acclaimed Adelaide Film Festival, supported by the South Australian Department for Education. Previously known as the Adelaide International Youth Film Festival, this program is designed to showcase and screen the best professionally made and independently made films for a youth audience, complimenting the main program but adapted for a younger audience aged 5 to 18.
The program will include screenings for schools and families. It will be accompanied by a substantial screen careers pathways program involving workshops, forums, Q&As and production opportunities. It will also involve a youth jury program, based on the Giffoni model.
We are calling for submissions from local and international professional filmmakers for shorts, feature films including feature documentaries, TV series (single and multi-episode) and VR (drama, documentary, hybrid, experimental and animation).
We also welcome shorts submissions from all youth for our national and international program and from South Australian school children both primary and highschool for our Statewide School Filmmaking Competition.
Submissions to AFF Youth have now closed. Entries for the Statewide School Filmmaking Competition are currently being accepted with a deadline of 1 September 2020.
Every film screened at AFF Youth will receive an "Official Selection" laurel.
