The Competition category for DEAF Films that was implemented in IIDFF to encourage DEAF Filmmakers a strong presence. The various sections under which the films are categorized for screening in IIDFF are DEAF Films and Non-Voice Film (Make by Hearing ) in International Cinema, Country Focus, and Retrospective.
The festival’s presence is felt on the web, social network sites, TV and FM radio apart from the print medium. The curtain-raiser events like press meet, opening and closing ceremonies, gala cultural shows, DEAF Film Forum Panel Discussions, Exclusive ‘Red Carpet’ evening screenings for an invited audience etc., all studded with film celebrities from international, national and popular regional cinema who will dazzle in the film festival.
Preparation for The INDIA INTERNATIONAL DEAF FILM FESTIVAL began in 2018 with a proposal from K. Murali to the DEAF LEADERS FOUNDATION WITH Directorate of Film Festival , at New Delhi , from 1st to 3rd February 2018. Upon approval, a committee was formed to begin the initial planning. The committee consists of members from the faculty, staff, students and community.
