305 & HAVANA INTERNATIONAL IMPROV FEST
Taking place three consecutive weeks in Miami, La Havana, and Trinidad- Cuba the 305 & Havana International Improv Fest presents master classes by international artists, curated screenings and performances that deepen into the art of improvisation, bringing together performing artists, filmmakers and audiences across two cities. Partnering venues are the Miami Dade County Auditorium On.Stage Black Box Theatre (Miami) and Fábrica de Arte Cubano FAC (Havana).
In everyday life, improvisation can transform lives. On stage, improvisation is an instrument for exploring and expanding artistic possibilities. Improvisation can be an element included in a performance or a performance itself. All that improvisation requires is a movement, a gesture, a word, or a sound that demands authenticity and spontaneity.
Directed by choreographer Alexey Taran (http://alexeytaran.com) and filmmaker Carla Forte (http://fortecarla.com), the 2-week festival 305 & Havana International Improv Fest will pay special attention to the art of improvisation through master classes open to students and professionals working in performing arts and film. The festival will also foster collaboration between artists living and working in Miami and Havana, as well as internationally-recognized master teachers of improvisation by presenting their work in two theatrical events.
