With 13 consecutive editions, For Rainbow - Festival of Cinema and Culture of Sexual and Gender Diversity has consolidated itself as one of the largest and most important spaces for debate and diffusion of respect for sexual and gender plurality in Brazil. During its history, the Festival went through difficult times, but nothing prevented it from happening.
And it will continue like this!
In 2020, in addition to the difficulty in attracting the necessary resources for its realization, due to the conservative wave that crosses Brazil, supported by federal institutions, including those of culture and defense of human rights, For Rainbow is dealing with the crisis generated by the covid-19 pandemic, which directly affected the cultural sector, leaving thousands of cultural professionals without jobs and income.
Due to the pandemic, this year's For Rainbow will take place entirely virtual. The new format, however, should not affect the diversified program, known to more than five thousand people who pass through the festival every year. At the event, artistic presentations, training activities, lectures and, of course, the famous International Competitive Exhibition, which will award short and feature films in 14 categories, are confirmed at the event.

Com 13 edições consecutivas, o For Rainbow – Festival de Cinema e Cultura da Diversidade Sexual e de Gênero se consolidou como um dos maiores e mais importantes espaços de debate e difusão do respeito à pluralidade sexual e de gênero no Brasil. Durante a sua história, o Festival passou por momentos difíceis, mas nada o impediu de acontecer.

Em 2020, além da dificuldade na captação dos recursos necessários para a sua realização, em decorrência da onda conservadora que atravessa o Brasil, respaldada pelas instituições federais, incluindo as de cultura e de defesa dos direitos humanos, o For Rainbow está lidando com a crise gerada pela pandemia de covid-19, que afetou diretamente o setor cultural, deixando milhares de profissionais da cultura sem emprego e renda.
Devido à pandemia, o For Rainbow deste ano acontecerá de forma totalmente virtual. O novo formato, no entanto, não deve afetar a diversificada programação, conhecida pelas mais de cinco mil pessoas que passam pelo festival todos os anos. Estão confirmadas no evento apresentações artísticas de várias linguagens, atividades de formação, palestras e, claro, a famosa Mostra Competitiva Internacional, que premiará filmes de curta e longa-metragem em 14 categorias.
The selected films will compete in three categories: Brazilian Medium or Short Film, Foreign Medium or Short Film and Feature Film.
Each of them will award the Elke Maravilha trophy for the Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Photography, Best Editing, Best Art, Best Sound and Best Soundtrack. And the João Neri award, which is a recognition given to productions that essentially address LGBTQIA + activism and the reflection of this performance in people's lives.

Os filmes selecionados concorrerão em três categorias: Média ou Curta-Metragem Brasileiro, Média ou Curta-Metragem Estrangeiro e Longa-Metragem.
Cada uma delas, premiará com o troféu Elke Maravilha o Melhor Filme, Melhor Diretor, Melhor Roteiro, Melhor Ator, Melhor Atriz, Melhor Fotografia, Melhor Montagem, Melhor Arte, Melhor Som e Melhor Trilha Sonora. E o prêmio João Neri, que é um reconhecimento dado a produções que abordam essencialmente a militância LGBTQIA+ e o reflexo dessa atuação na vida das pessoas.
